Breakfast or Dessert - Flaky and Instant Apple Turnover Recipe | HOW TO MAKE APPLE TURNOVERS
For the Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tbsp water
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
For the Egg Wash:
1 egg
1 tbsp milk
For the Turnovers:
Puff pastry sheet cut into 8 pieces
2 tbsp butter
2 1/2 cups granny smith apples, peeled and diced
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
A pinch of salt
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp corn starch
Method:
Combining powdered sugar, water and vanilla in a bowl, mix until smooth.
Mix an egg with milk in a bowl, and keep that aside.
In a nonstick pan, melt the butter over medium heat, add the apple and cook for 2 - 3 minutes.
Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, and stir well.
Now add salt, lemon juice, stir and cook for 5 minutes or until the apple is soft.
Sprinkle in the corn starch and stir until the apple juice thickens up.
Transfer the mixture to a bowl and refrigerate.
Roll the thawed puff pastry sheet and cut it into equal squares.
Place 2 tablespoons of filling in each square, leaving a half-inch border.
Brush the edges with egg wash.
Fold the puff pastry into a triangle shape, seal the edge using a fork.
Now, brush the top with egg wash and arrange them onto the baking tray.
Bake at 180 C for about 18-20 minutes or until golden and puffed.
Drizzle glaze over the warm turnovers and enjoy!
