Breakfast or Dessert - Flaky and Instant Apple Turnover Recipe | HOW TO MAKE APPLE TURNOVERS

For the Glaze: 


  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar 

  • 1 tbsp water 

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract  


For the Egg Wash: 


  • 1 egg 

  • 1 tbsp milk  


For the Turnovers: 


  • Puff pastry sheet cut into 8 pieces   

  • 2 tbsp butter 

  • 2 1/2 cups granny smith apples, peeled and diced 

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar 

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon 

  • A pinch of salt 

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice 

  • 1 tbsp corn starch  


Method:  



  1. Combining powdered sugar, water and vanilla in a bowl, mix until smooth.  

  2. Mix an egg with milk in a bowl, and keep that aside. 

  3. In a nonstick pan, melt the butter over medium heat, add the apple and cook for 2 - 3 minutes.

  4. Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, and stir well. 

  5. Now add salt, lemon juice, stir and cook for  5 minutes or until the apple is soft. 

  6. Sprinkle in the corn starch and stir until the apple juice thickens up. 

  7. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and refrigerate. 

  8. Roll the thawed puff pastry sheet and cut it into equal squares. 

  9. Place 2 tablespoons of filling in each square, leaving a half-inch border. 

  10. Brush the edges with egg wash. 

  11. Fold the puff pastry into a triangle shape, seal the edge using a fork.  

  12. Now, brush the top with egg wash and arrange them onto the baking tray. 

  13. Bake at 180 C for about 18-20 minutes or until golden and puffed. 

  14. Drizzle glaze over the warm turnovers and enjoy!
