Servings - 3 to 4
Ingredients:
1/2 cup chana dal
1/2 cup toor dal
1/4 cup moong dal
3-4 green chillies
1-inch ginger, finely chopped
1 teaspoon salt or to taste
1/2 cup coconut, grated
1/4 teaspoon hing/asafoetida
1/4 cup coriander, finely chopped
1/4 cup dill leaves, finely chopped
1 tablespoon curry leaves, chopped
1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
1 teaspoon cumin/jeera
Method:
In a bowl, combine chana dal, toor dal, and moong dal.
Wash the dals thoroughly, then add water and soak them for 3-4 hours.
Once soaked, drain the water and transfer the dals to a blender.
Add green chillies and ginger to the blender and grind into a coarse paste without adding water.
Transfer the coarse dal paste to a large mixing bowl.
Add salt, grated coconut, hing, chopped coriander leaves, dill leaves, curry leaves, and finely chopped onion.
Squeeze and mix everything well until the mixture is evenly combined.
Grease your hands with a little oil, then shape the mixture into small cylinders.
Arrange the shaped dumplings in a steamer, leaving enough space between them.
Steam the dumplings for 10-15 minutes or until fully cooked.
Serve the hot nuchinunde with ghee or chutney and enjoy!
