Dairy-Free Masala Chai | Vegan Tea

The aroma of chai tea is simply intoxicating, with its blend of warming spices.  A vegan version allows everyone to enjoy the comforting flavour.  Imagine sipping this beverage on a chilly evening, curled up with a good book.  The gentle spices would dance on your palate, leaving you feeling warm and content. Truly, a vegan chai tea is a delightful treat any time of day.  



Servings - 2



Ingredients:  



  • 3/4 cup water 

  • 11/2 cup plant-based milk (almond, soy, or oat) 

  • 2 black tea bags or 2 tsp loose-leaf tea 

  • 2 cardamom pods, crushed 

  • 1 small piece of fresh ginger, crushed  

  • 2 sugar or any sweetener of your choice (optional)  



Method:  



  1. In a saucepan, add water, cardamom, and ginger. Bring to a boil. 

  2. Once it boils, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the spices to release their flavour. 

  3. Add the tea and let it steep for another 2-3 minutes and add sugar. 

  4. Stir in your choice of plant-based milk and heat gently without boiling. 

  5. Strain the chai into cups, and enjoy your warm, aromatic vegan chai!
